Media accreditation

Accreditation covers the Asia Pacific Championship and the World Championship, the media centre, the shore and boat park areas, and the ceremonies. Places in the two media RIBs are allocated separately and are limited.

Applications close 31 October 2026. Badges are printed on 1 November, and the venue requires the confirmed media list before opening day. Applying after that is possible but awkward for everyone.

This sets your badge and where you can go. If two apply, choose the one you will spend most of your time doing.

Tick the days you expect to attend. Tell us if your plans change.

Roughly, on a racing day. The club asks for this.

5. On the water

There are two media RIBs, one for stills and one for video, and they are the scarcest thing we have. Ask for the days you genuinely need, not all of them. Seats are confirmed closer to the event, and you can change a day up to the evening before.

6. Drone

Unmanned aircraft are permitted by exception, on declaration, and only from points the club designates.

7. Practicalities

There is no parking at the marina, so plan to arrive on foot or by taxi with your cases.

A summary is enough. Long lenses, ladders, lighting and anything that needs a power outlet are the ones that matter.
Sailors, officials, organisers. No promises, but ask early and we will try. Sponsor requests go via their own press office, so we pass those on rather than arrange them.
A plain head and shoulders picture. It goes on your badge and nowhere else.
A link to a scan, if you hold one. Optional.

Announcements about the championship, before and after it. Separate from the accreditation emails and the on-site advisories, which everyone accredited receives. Unsubscribe at any time.

8. The accreditation brief

Two of these are conditions of our access to the venue rather than house preference. They are ticked separately for that reason.

Member boats are not to be photographed

Photography or filming of Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club and Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club member boats, private berths and any vessel not entered in the championship is strictly prohibited. This is a condition of our access to the marina and it is not negotiable.

The clubhouse and golf course are out of bounds

Accreditation covers the regatta areas only. No filming or photography in the clubhouse, on the golf course, in car parks or in member areas without a separate arrangement made through the media office.

Drone operation is by declaration and approval

Any unmanned aircraft must be operated in compliance with Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department requirements, with the registration reference supplied in advance. Take-off and landing points are designated by the club. No flight over the clubhouse, golf course, car parks, member berths or over people. Unapproved flying ends your accreditation on the spot.

On the water, the race comes first

Media RIBs are under the direction of their driver, who answers to the Race Officer. Keep clear of the race area, starting line, marks and competing boats as directed. Buoyancy aids are worn at all times afloat.

Your badge is personal

Accreditation is issued to a named individual, is not transferable and is worn visibly on site. Report a lost badge to the media centre the same day.

There is no parking at the marina

No parking is available at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club. Plan to arrive on foot or by taxi with your equipment. An equipment drop-off point will be confirmed before the event.

Use of your images by the organisers

The organisers may ask you for a small selection of images for non-commercial use in championship and class communications, always with your credit and your permission. Any use beyond that, including sponsor and commercial use, is by separate agreement with you.

What we do with your details

The information you give here is used to issue accreditation, to produce your badge, to allocate RIB seats and to provide the confirmed media list required by the host venue. It is shared with the organising authority and the host venues for those purposes and is not used for anything else.
